Perceptive Advisors has provided a senior secured term loan facility of up to $70m to Distalmotion, a Lausanne-based robotic surgery medtech, with proceeds to support continued penetration of the US ambulatory surgery centre market and further development of its DEXTER robotic surgery system and instrument portfolio, according to a 21 October 2026 GlobeNewswire release from the company.
Distalmotion is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, and has a US office in Cleveland, Ohio. DEXTER is a soft-tissue surgical robot designed with a small, mobile footprint for outpatient settings, and is cleared in the US for procedures including cholecystectomy, inguinal and ventral hernia repair and hysterectomy.
Sam Chawla, portfolio manager at Perceptive, said: "DEXTER is purpose-built for the ongoing shift of high-volume surgery to the ASC, where efficiency is paramount."
Greg Roche, CEO of Distalmotion, said: "This financing gives us additional capital to accelerate our US growth strategy, strengthen our commercial presence, and continue to optimize DEXTER for ASC patients, surgeons, and administrators."
Tenor, pricing, tranching and the amount drawn at close were not disclosed.
The debt facility follows several large equity financings for Distalmotion. The company closed a $150m Series G in November 2025, led by Revival Healthcare Capital with participation from existing investors. At that time, Chas McKhann, former CEO of Apollo Endosurgery and Silk Road Medical, was named executive chairman.
Distalmotion previously raised a $150m Series F, with a first close in April 2023, also led by Revival Healthcare Capital, and a $90m Series E in January 2022 led by Revival Healthcare Capital with 415 Capital and existing investors.
Perceptive has provided other senior secured facilities to listed healthcare companies this year, including an up to $250m notes facility for Autolus Therapeutics in August 2026 and an up to $60m term loan for Pulmonx in March 2026.
