The European Investment Bank has agreed a €20 million convertible loan for Morphotonics, the Dutch deeptech company developing large-area nanoimprint lithography platforms for AR and AI glasses, AR waveguides and advanced photonic components.

The EIB financing, supported under InvestEU, forms part of a Series B package of over €40 million. Proceeds will be used to scale Morphotonics’ platforms and address a manufacturing bottleneck for wearable AI and AR glasses and other high-volume optical components.

Based in Veldhoven, Netherlands, Morphotonics is working to move nanoimprint lithography into high-volume manufacturing for consumer-electronics-scale optical components. Invest-NL said the funding will also support development of Cypris, a fully automated production line for AR/VR.

The same package includes a €5 million equity investment from Invest-NL, with Innovation Industries, BOM and 3M Ventures also participating. EIB is participating through the convertible debt facility.

Morphotonics previously announced a first closing of a $10 million-plus Series B in September 2024 with Innovation Industries, BOM and 3M. The latest financing closes and expands the Series B package with the EIB convertible loan and Invest-NL’s equity commitment.
