Fugro has entered into a €150 million unsecured financing facility with the European Investment Bank to support the development and deployment of its uncrewed surface vessel technology and the phased expansion of its remote operations capabilities.

The European Investment Bank said the funding will support the deployment of a second-generation fleet of up to 25 medium-sized, long-range, remotely operated uncrewed surface vessels, as well as research and development in advanced remote sensing and underwater robotics.

The facility is available for eligible costs incurred between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2031. Drawings have maturities of up to 10 years and rank pari passu with Fugro’s existing senior debt.

In parallel, Fugro has extended by two years, to December 2031, the maturity of its existing syndicated senior unsecured facilities. These comprise a €400 million revolving credit facility and a €100 million term loan, on the same terms as agreed in December 2024. The extension does not represent new money.

Fugro, a listed Dutch geo-data company, surveys and monitors the seabed and offshore infrastructure. The European Investment Bank said the company’s uncrewed surface vessels can cut fuel consumption by up to 90% compared with traditional survey vessels. Fugro reported a full-year 2025 net loss of €20.5 million and negative free cash flow of €137 million, according to its Annual Report 2025.

Mark Heine, CEO of Fugro, said: "Uncrewed surface vessels and remote operations are an important part of our long-term strategy." He added: "This long-term financing facility gives us the flexibility to deploy these technologies in a disciplined and phased manner, aligned with market developments."

Robert de Groot, EIB Vice-President, said: "Fugro provides the data and expertise that underpin major offshore investments, from wind farms to subsea cables."
