Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has upsized its financing facility for Uzum from $70m to $100m, with proceeds earmarked for the further development of the Uzbek digital ecosystem's fintech business and the expansion of digital financial services for individuals and small and medium-sized businesses.
The original $70m loan agreement was signed in May 2026 and marked EDB's first investment in Uzbekistan after the country joined the bank.
Uzum combines fintech, e-commerce and banking services for individuals and businesses, and says more than 20m people in Uzbekistan use its services each month. Uzum Bank led bank card issuance growth in Uzbekistan in 2026, while more than 50% of orders on Uzum Market are paid using financial services from the ecosystem.
Sergey Ignatov, EDB senior managing director, said expanding the partnership reflected the bank's plans to scale operations in Uzbekistan and support digital platforms as economic infrastructure.
EDB is a multilateral development bank focused on investment and economic integration across Eurasia. At the end of June 2026, its accumulated portfolio comprised 348 projects totalling $22.1bn.
